Federal Government to launch Medicare security review

The federal government is expected to launch an inquiry into Medicare security after a breach saw card numbers sold on the dark web. Former public service chief Peter Shergold will be named to conduct a review of the way doctors check up to 45,000 records every day, The Australian reported on Monday. Mr Shergold will work with the presidents of the Australian Medical Association and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners on the report due within three months.
