Sixth person diagnosed with meningococcal

A sixth person has been diagnosed with meningococcal in Queensland in the past fortnight. The Darling Downs Public Health Unit (DDPHU) confirmed on Friday an adult from Toowoomba had contracted the potentially deadly disease. Meningococcal symptoms may include high fever, chills, headache, neck stiffness, nausea and vomiting. According to a statement issued by the DDPHU, all people who had “high-risk contact” with the adult were provided with appropriate treatment and advice.
