Keep triple-zero service in Australia

The Communications Union wants the federal government to rule out sending the triple-zero emergency call service overseas after it called for tenders to take over from Telstra. On Thursday the government announced an expressions of interest for the national emergency system following a review that focused on keeping pace with technological advancements. “This is an essential service that helps to save Australian lives every day, but there seems to be a lack of clear direction from (Prime Minister Malcolm) Turnbull with regard to the process and policy intentions,” Communications Union National President Shane Murphy said in a statement on Saturday.
